Gracely has three group types, and each behaves a little differently. Picking the right one decides who can see the group and what details you can add.
Private group
Who sees it: admins only — Private groups are not shown in the Church Portal.
Best for: internal lists, sensitive groups (e.g. care or counseling), or any group you don't want members browsing.
Fields: just a name and an optional image. Private groups have no leader, description, location, or meet-up date fields.
Public group
Who sees it: everyone — Public groups are discoverable in the Church Portal, so members can find and explore them.
Best for: small groups, ministries, and anything you want people to join or learn about.
Fields: name and image, plus a Group leader (optional), Description, General location (optional), and Meetup date (optional).
Team
Who sees it: used for serving teams and internal roles.
Best for: worship team, ushers, kids' ministry volunteers, and other serving teams.
Fields: name and image, plus Group leader (required), Description, General location (optional), and Meetup date (optional).

💡 Tip: You can change a group's type later from Edit details, so it's fine to start simple and adjust as the group grows.
⚠️ Note: A leader is required only when you create a Team. For Public groups a leader is recommended but optional, and Private groups don't have a leader field at all.
