How to order your people list alphabetically

Keeping your people list ordered alphabetically helps you find members faster and keeps your database clean and predictable. In Gracely, you can change how your people list is sorted in just a few clicks.

You can choose how your People list is ordered — and save that order as the default — from Table Settings.

Sort the People list

  1. Go to People in the left sidebar.

  2. At the top-right of the list, click the settings icon (the sliders / adjustments icon, next to "Sort by").

  3. In Table Settings, open Sort By and choose a field:

    • Full name

    • Last name

    • Joined church

    • Created at

  4. Choose a Sort Direction — Ascending ↑ or Descending ↓.

  5. Click Save.

For an A–Z list by surname, set Sort By to Last name and Sort Direction to Ascending ↑. To order by the full name instead, choose Full name. Name sorting ignores capitalization, so "adam" and "Adam" are ordered together.

The order you save becomes the default for your church, so the People list opens this way for everyone next time. The Sort by: label above the list always shows the order currently applied.

💡 Tip: For a quick one-off re-sort, you can also click a sortable column header (such as Full name) — but choosing your order in Table Settings is what saves it.
