Managing recurring donations (members and admins)

How recurring gifts are set up and how members and admins manage or cancel them.

Recurring donations let members set up a gift that repeats automatically. Here's how they're created and how to manage or stop one.

How members set up a recurring gift

Members give from your church portal or the My Gracely app:

  1. Go to your church's Give page (portal) or the Give tab (app).

  2. Enter the amount and choose a fund.

  3. Choose a giving frequency. Depending on what your church has enabled, the options are One Time, Weekly, Bi-Weekly, and Monthly.

  4. Enter payment details and confirm.

The Give page: ① enter the amount ② pick One Time, Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly ③ choose the fund ④ Continue to give.

For recurring gifts paid with PayPal, the member is sent to PayPal to approve the subscription; once approved, PayPal activates it automatically.

💡 Tip: Which frequencies appear is controlled by your church in Portal Studio → Gifts Widget → Payment Frequency Options (One Time, Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Monthly). If you don't see Weekly or Monthly options, your church hasn't enabled them there.

How admins view and cancel a recurring donation

Church admins manage recurring gifts from the dashboard:

  1. Go to Contributions → Giving.

  2. Find a donation marked as recurring and open its Donation Summary.

  3. Click Cancel recurring donation.

  4. Confirm in the Cancel a recurring subscription window by clicking Cancel recurring gift.

Recurring gifts carry a ① Recurring tag in the Giving list. Open the ⋯ menu and choose ② Cancel recurring donation, or click the gift to open its Donation Summary.

In the Donation Summary, click ① Cancel recurring donation.

Confirm with Cancel recurring gift. Gifts already made stay in your records.

This stops future charges. Gifts already made stay in your records and on tax statements.

Can members cancel their own recurring gift?

Yes, in the church portal. In My Gifts, each recurring gift has a Cancel button; the member confirms with Cancel Donation. The My Gifts screen in the My Gracely app only shows giving history, so app users can cancel from the portal or contact their church admin, who can cancel it from the dashboard.

Editing a recurring gift

There's no in-app "edit" for an active recurring donation (such as changing the amount). To change one, cancel the existing recurring gift and have the member set up a new one with the new amount or frequency.
